A small checklist with ways to adjust your findability yourself.
The most frequently asked question to me is about
visibility. You can be visible offline by networking or because people
(ambassadors) refer you. The majority of my assignments come in through
referral. However, I can't live without it online. Because there I present
myself and my company with my website, my blogs, my YouTube channel, Google+,
Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. The various online channels
reinforce each other. I don't have the time to keep track of everything. I
focus on those channels where my target group is. The other channels that I
know are included in the ranking of Google, namely Google+ and YouTube, I will
certainly include in the placement of content
The 7 ways:
- Sign in to the Google Search Console
- Start with Google My Business
- Make short video share them on social media
- Create a YouTube channel
- Use relevant keywords in title, meta description and url (permalink / slug)
- Use an SSL certificate / https / lock
- Provide valuable content for your target group, start blogging
1. Register with Google Search Console
With this free service (you need a Gmail address) you can
register your website and also your sitemap. Let us know that you exist!
This tool also checks your links to and from your website
He checks whether your pages work (404 reports)
He gives an overview of searches
He displays statistics
and much more!
Let Google My Business find you
If you want to use the Yoast SEO plugin, you also need a GSC
account.
2. Start with Google My Business
Register your website and state your address details. You
will then receive a postcard from Google to verify. After this you can get started
to put your company on the map. You can start working with Google reviews.
Upload photos from your office. View the searches used to find your business.
There are many more options. As soon as someone searches for your name, your
company with photos (if you upload) will appear on the right next to the search
results. Talk about visibility.
3. Start creating videos
With video you have more reach and you get more attention
than just text and image. Do you have something valuable to share? Then create
a videos and share it on the social media channel where your target audience
is. Invest in a good microphone, a selfie stick and tripod and start with short
viedos. It takes a little practice and yes everyone hates to see themselves.
Just cross that threshold and start 'just'.
4. Create YouTube channel
YouTube is from Google, so you can guess it, you can use it
to determine your ranking. Make sure you use a good title and description for your
videos. With the right keywords . Then promote your videos via your website,
via your blog and on other social media channels.
Video stands out more than text or images. Make sure you
make a good header and description with your channel. And make a separate
thumbnail that stands out well. That is a picture that you can upload with the
video. You can set this as the first image that one sees. Don't forget that you
also use your search term with the video title and description and clearly
describe what the video is about.
Make sure you ask questions in your video, so that they respond and interact.
5. Use relevant keywords in title, meta description and url (permalink / slug)
Google keeps track of what is being searched for. That is
why Google knows which words are relevant. The more relevant the keywords /
terms in your blogs are, the higher the ranking. Focus on one keyword or phrase
per blog or page. Have this reflected in title, meta description and
subheadings. But do not forget to apply the images and in the text itself. Also
try linking to other pages and if you use other sources, state this.
Make sure you have a good semantic html for example. The
styling of your theme determines the visual layout. So do not work with
manually set bold text for headings, but use an h2 or h3 (header 2 or header
3).

Header
, this is your site title

introduction

paragraph / paragraph

6. Use an SSL certificate / https
Read also An SSL certificate on your website, what should
you look out for? Having an https
instead of an http connection counts in the ranking. It is only 1 of the 200
factors, but in the context of what you can do yourself I think it is
important. Certainly because pages without now are often considered unsafe and
that can cost your visitors.
7. Provide valuable content for your target group, start blogging
I think this is the most important thing myself. With
blogging you can show who you are, what your company is about. What is your
expertise? You create your own unique content. You can share this and refer
back to it and Google will index your page and rank it. Google pays attention
to relevant search terms. But the moment you start blogging and share this on
your channels in your network, then you are really much more visible than someone
who does not take the time. If you look at the image above you will see that
many of the factors have to do with the content (text and images). Use links to
other important pages. Respond to a blog article and make sure that the link to
your website is linked to your profile (if you respond to or via a social media
channel).
Well-written texts with supporting images ensure that your
website is pleasant to read and that you also want to return to it or link to
it. The processing of good keywords ensures that Google scores a little higher
on your website. There are many points that determine the ranking, but content
is the most important.
