Split-screen on your Android
Sometimes you want to do more than two things on your phone
at the same time, so it's useful to know that Android devices have a
split-screen mode, which enables you to utilize 2 applications simultaneously.
The split-screen is a handy option to get everything out of your Android phone,
but it can be a bit tricky to switch the mode on if you have not done this
before. A short explanation.
First of all, it's good to realize that not all apps support
multitasking, including Netflix, the camera app, and certain games such as
Candy Crush. Because all manufacturers use a different Android skin, the
operation may differ per smartphone brand.
Which apps do split-screen support?
To find out which apps you can use in split-screen mode,
press the multitasking icon in the bottom left of the screen. You will then see
an overview of your recently opened apps. In addition to the title of the
application at the top, you will find two rectangles below each other or the
split-screen icon. This means that the relevant application supports
split-screen mode. If the two rectangles cannot be found, then it is not
possible to multitask with this app.
Set split screen
Once you have found an app that allows you to multitask,
swipe to this app, tap and hold the split screen icon at the top. Then choose
the second app in the same way.
You will then see the two apps above or below each other. If
you want one screen larger than the other, you can move the bar in the middle.
Turn off again?
If you don't like the split-screen mode completely or if you
want to switch it off again, you can do so very easily by dragging the black
bar in the middle of the two apps up or down. The app that you want to keep
will then remain on your screen. You can also press the home button to minimize
the apps. Then swipe to the notification screen to close the multitasking
screen.
